Kitchen Orangery Extension on Grade II listed building
For this stunning Grade II listed building the client was looking to extend their kitchen but within the parameters of what was allowed by the Grade II listing and was in keeping with the property.
Working with their Heritage Architect an orangery was designed to provide the extra space but was in complete harmony with the building. Unlike orangeries from the period, however, this would benefit from modern joinery techniques and double glazed installation.
The frame was made from Red Sapele which is a sustainable African hardwood that is ideal for windows and doors due to its straight grain and stability. The roof of the orangery consisted of a bespoke roof light section.
The result is a beautiful extension that looks like it has been there from construction of the building yet has the thermal performance of a modern extension.
